Gordon Ramsay’s Exclusive Parenting Tips: Nurturing Six Kids with Passion and Purpose

January 8, 2024

Gordon Ramsay is providing insights into his approach to parenting.

In a sneak peek of the program Last Meals unveiled by PEOPLE, Ramsay discusses with host Josh Scherer about his methods in raising his six children — Megan, 25, twins Holly and Jack, 24, Matilda, 22, Oscar, 4, and Jesse, 7 weeks — whom he shares with his wife, Tana.

“I have six remarkable kids. I am extremely fortunate. All I have instilled in our children is the importance of discovering their passion and forging their own path. It’s not about chasing after fame, fortune, or money,” Ramsay shares.

“They are all pursuing their own paths. Meg, our eldest, serves as an exceptional police officer. Jack is committed to the Royal Marines, dedicating his life to this service. Tilly is currently attending university, while Holly has a keen interest in fashion. As for Oscar, he recently caused a stir in the nativity play. With just two lines to deliver, he stumbled upon seeing his mom, and of course, Jesse is only a few months old.”

“I always emphasize that the sooner they communicate with me, the better I can assist them. Unlike my own father, with whom I didn’t share a close bond. He had a tendency to be patronizing, always saying ‘I told you so.’ Children need guidance, a chance to express themselves, and a way to bounce back,” he elaborates.

Ramsay mentions that despite maintaining high standards, he allows his children to learn from their mistakes. He goes on to describe his method of encouraging them to save money.

“Each month, when they received their allowance of a few hundred dollars, I proposed that if they saved it throughout the year, I would match the amount at Christmas,” Ramsay explains.

“This practice instilled in them the value of saving every dollar. By starting this at around 10 to 13 years old, when they began working part-time jobs, they were already focused on their future career paths. It’s a departure from my own upbringing. They exhibit great discipline and determination.”

In November, Ramsay shared the news of welcoming his sixth child with Tana on Instagram.

“What an incredible birthday surprise! Please welcome Jesse James Ramsay, weighing in at 7lbs 10oz,” the host of Kitchen Nightmares announced on his birthday. “One more addition to the Ramsay family!! 3 boys, 3 girls…. Complete 👊🏼❤️❤️.”

The photos shared captured Ramsay planting a kiss on the baby’s head while Tana cradled him lovingly, radiating joy in the snapshots.
