Theresa Caputo Reveals Why She’s Making a TV Comeback

January 23, 2024

Theresa Caputo possesses insights into the afterlife that intrigue many individuals who approach the former “Long Island Medium” star in public. People often inquire about the existence of an afterlife, its characteristics, and the presence of our loved ones, delving into questions that we all ponder privately but seldom articulate.

Despite being a well-known medium, Caputo humbly acknowledges that she does not possess all the answers regarding the afterlife. With a touch of humor, she quips, “I’ll find out when I get there,” during a conversation with TODAY.com conducted over Zoom.

For almost a decade, Caputo was the focal point of her TLC series, “Long Island Medium,” where she purportedly communicated with departed souls, whom she refers to as Spirit.

Now, at 56 years old, she is gearing up for the premiere of her new show on Lifetime, “Theresa Caputo: Raising Spirits,” scheduled to air on Jan. 25. This new series promises a blend of her professional endeavors and personal life.

While the original “Long Island Medium” concluded in 2019 after an eight-year run, Caputo has been occupied authoring bestselling books, embarking on tours, conducting private readings, and embracing her role as a grandmother.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing sense of shared isolation motivated Caputo to reintroduce a TV show into her already busy schedule. She felt compelled to offer her gift to a world in need of faith and reassurance during challenging times.

Reflecting on her unique ability, Caputo recounts experiencing visions of spirits from the age of 4, further developing this skill in her twenties. Despite initial apprehensions about death during her childhood, she gradually embraced her gift, recognizing it as a divine endowment intertwined with her faith.

As a devout Catholic, she navigated the integration of her gift with her religious beliefs, emphasizing that her ability originates from a higher source. Caputo views psychic readings as a means to alleviate the negative emotions associated with loss, providing individuals with a pathway to healing.

Whether conducting readings individually or in larger settings, Caputo aims to impart a sense of healing and comfort to her clients, fostering a renewed appreciation for life despite the challenges of loss.

In her personal life, Caputo, a mother of two, strives to balance her role as a medium with her family commitments. Her children, Victoria and Larry Jr., along with her granddaughter, Michelina, display understanding and respect for her profession.

Despite undergoing significant changes in her family dynamics, including a divorce in 2018 after 28 years of marriage, Caputo’s children have remained unfazed by her extraordinary line of work. They have embraced her unique abilities with nonchalance, considering it a normal facet of their upbringing.

Caputo’s adeptness at intertwining her mediumship with parenting is evident in her lighthearted interactions with her children, infusing humor into her role as a medium and a grandmother.
