Chrissy Teigen’s Authentic Reaction to a Polarizing Parenting Discussion

January 24, 2024

If you are seeking an authentic celebrity mother, Chrissy Teigen is the one to turn to. The renowned author of Cravings recently shared her perspective on a contentious parenting issue, encapsulating our sentiments perfectly.

The mother of four expressed her views on the perennially debated question: “Is it advisable to bring young children to restaurants?” During her appearance on Good Morning America this morning, she was asked this question, and her response was both candid and humorous.

Her Perfect Response

When prompted for her “advice” on dining out with kids in a clip shared on Instagram, Teigen concisely replied, “Yeah, don’t.” She chuckled and added, “Just don’t.”

Let’s face it, nothing she says can make the experience of dining out with little ones—ahem, young children—any less challenging. At best, you might manage to secure your child in a highchair. However, you still have to contend with spills, tantrums, food refusals, and other unpleasant occurrences that can make the entire outing quite arduous for everyone involved, including fellow diners.

While some individuals rightfully argue that children should be welcome in public spaces like restaurants, making the actual act of dining with them any easier is another story! The only real solace comes from dining with others who can assist in keeping the children content, engaged, and seated for a brief period.

Teigen’s Chrissy & Dave Dine Out co-star, who is also a parent, concurred with her viewpoint. “That’s the best response,” he remarked, mentioning his preference for taking his children, Hugo, 4, and Gus, 2, along with his wife Grace, to “a lively, bustling restaurant.”

When Teigen does decide to dine out with her kids Luna, 7, Miles, 5, Esti, 1, and Wren, 7 months, whom she shares with her husband John Legend, each child behaves differently. Teigen noted, “I have my little one who’s seven months old, and he will doze off at a restaurant. Everyone comes by and exclaims, ‘He’s so well-behaved.’”

She further shared, “And then I have my one-year-old, Esti, who explores everything—knives, glasses, you name it, creating chaos.” It’s a relatable scenario! Teigen mentioned that her older children simply “stare at our phones and send texts.” Nothing wrong with that!

Selective Eaters

Recently, Teigen discussed Luna’s and Miles’s contrasting eating habits. “Luna is an exceptional eater. She enjoys salads, vegetables,” Teigen revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Miles, on the other hand, has yet to try a vegetable. He’s almost six. He accidentally ingested a piece of broccoli in fried rice and was quite upset about it.”

With picky eating habits and the risk of toppling glasses, perhaps it’s preferable to arrange for a babysitter and relish a peaceful dinner outing sans the little ones!
