Kate Silverton has penned a sequel to her highly successful parenting manual There’s No Such Thing as ‘Naughty’ for Bonnier Books UK.

Scheduled for release at the conclusion of March 2024, Lagom will launch There is Still No Such Thing as ‘Naughty’: Parenting the Primary Years in various formats including trade paperback, e-book, and audiobook as a flagship release.

The global rights for this publication were acquired by Michelle Signore, the editorial director at Lagom, procured from Tom Wright at Bev James Management.

The synopsis encapsulates the essence of the book: “Navigating the realm of parenting from ages five to 12 poses challenges akin to those faced during early childhood. Kate delves into the intricacies of children’s cognitive development, unraveling the true motives behind the often perplexing behaviors they exhibit.

Through an array of pragmatic advice and conversational prompts, parents are equipped to decipher their children’s actions effectively, fostering stronger and enduring connections. Grounded in scientific research, Kate offers a user-friendly toolkit tailored for all parents striving to cultivate a nurturing, empathetic bond with their child, nurturing qualities of confidence, kindness, and resilience.”

Kate Silverton’s prior work, There is No Such Thing as ‘Naughty’ (Bonnier Books UK), garnered acclaim from both academic circles and notable figures such as Professor Peter Fonagy, a consultant on early childhood matters to HRH The Princess of Wales, and Joe Wicks.

Signore expressed, “Numerous parents are eager to unravel the mysteries of effective parenting that nurture their children’s mental well-being. As a parent myself to a nine-year-old, I recognize the pressing need for this book. Kate’s narrative exudes reassurance and empathy, blending scientific insights with actionable advice. I take immense pride in presenting a book that spearheads a shift in parent-child communication.”

Silverton remarked, “Drawing from my experience as a child therapist, I have witnessed the profound transformations achievable when we apply scientific principles to comprehend children and their conduct.

Being a mother to two youngsters in their primary years, I understand the arduous and consuming nature of the role. This book is crafted to instill hope and provide solutions, aiming to alleviate the challenges faced by parents and enhance the joy in our children’s lives. By doing so, we can reinstate harmony in our households, nurturing the mental well-being and happiness of our children, as well as our own.”
