Kelly Osbourne isn’t the pioneer in celebrity circles to alter her child’s name legally. However, her motivation for doing so might tug at your heartstrings!
During a recent episode of the family’s podcast, The Osbournes, Kelly Osbourne, the daughter of Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne, disclosed her decision to change her son Sidney’s name following a significant dispute with her partner, Sid Wilson.
The ‘Epic Argument’

“This is a personal matter, and I never anticipated discussing it, but here we are,” the 39-year-old revealed on the podcast, as reported by Page Six. “It marks the most significant disagreement between me and my child’s father, one that may remain unparalleled.”

The disagreement centered around the surname of their 15-month-old son. Osbourne explained, “I desired our son to bear both our surnames, but he opposed it vehemently. This led to a major clash,” she confessed. “I felt coerced into a decision against my will, which I find unforgivable. However, we can progress from this point.”
It’s truly disheartening and frustrating. Why did Wilson resist Osbourne’s wish to bestow their son with that iconic surname? In this day and age, such conflicts should be obsolete.
Fortunately, the actress and model persevered. “Presently, our son lacks a hyphenated surname, but following numerous enlightening discussions and couples therapy, he has come around,” she elaborated, according to Page Six. “We are taking steps to legally change our son’s name to encompass both our surnames.”

Embracing Motherhood
Osbourne and Wilson publicly acknowledged their relationship in January 2022, merely ten months before welcoming their son. By September 2023, she expressed her wholehearted embrace of motherhood on an episode of The Osbournes. “I revel in every aspect of it. Being a mother brings me immense joy,” she professed. “I cherish conversations with fellow mothers. It defines my world.”
Her brother Jack Osbourne concurred, noting, “It’s your primary topic of discussion.”
“It truly is,” she affirmed. “The overwhelming love that surges within you upon having your own child. It’s an unparalleled sensation.”
First Birthday Celebration

On Sidney’s first birthday in November 2023, Osbourne penned a heartfelt tribute to her son on Instagram.
“The past year has been enchanting, all thanks to you, baby Sidney,” she shared. “Witnessing your growth, development, and evolution into a young man has been the greatest delight. The bond we share is the most magical and profound connection I’ve ever known.”
She added, “Love was merely a word until you came along. NOW, I comprehend its true essence. I am eternally grateful to you for imparting the profound beauty and truth of love. What more can I say except, I love you.”
Soon, baby Sidney will carry a piece of his mother with him forever through his new surname.
