Hoda Kotb recently engaged in a conversation with Savannah Guthrie to talk about her most recent book. During their discussion, Kotb shared how the book had assisted her in handling challenging moments in parenting.

The heartfelt dialogue regarding Guthrie’s book, Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere, took place on the fifth season premiere of Kotb’s podcast, Making Space, on Wednesday.

Within the collection of essays penned by Guthrie, aged 52, she explores the significant role that faith has played in her life. On the other hand, Kotb, aged 59, mentioned that revisiting the book provided her with optimism and confidence in her parenting journey with her two daughters: Haley Joy, 7, and Hope Catherine, 4.

Kotb shared, “You know, what’s funny, I read the book when you first sent [it] to me — chapter by chapter. And I reread it last night when I was going through a difficult time with my daughter and I was worried, ‘Am I enough? Am I doing it right?‘” Her voice cracked with emotion as she continued.

Reflecting on a specific section in the book that draws a parallel between God’s love for us and a parent’s love for their children, Kotb expressed, “I had already read that, by the way, a few months ago and it didn’t hit me but it hit me last night like it was meant for me in that moment.”

Guthrie, a mother of Vale, 9, and Charley, 7, with her husband Michael Feldman, empathized with Kotb’s sentiments, describing the journey of motherhood as “a revelation on every single level,” and acknowledging the profound vulnerability that comes with parenting.
