For parents gearing up for the first school run of the year, this parenting hack could be a game-changer in ensuring timely departures.

Instead of resorting to constant nagging and escalating frustration to summon her children downstairs, mom Shelley Walker implemented a creative solution. She installed wireless doorbells in each of her kids’ rooms, enabling her to summon them effortlessly.

To take it a step further, she even placed doorbells in her kitchen cupboard, each labeled with her sons’ names.

In her Tiktok post, the mother of three confessed to feeling ‘frustrated’ by the repetitive calls before discovering this ingenious hack.

She humorously shared, “Anyone else tired of shouting upstairs, getting no response, and then rushing up to gather the kids for dinner?!…Now I can summon the boys politely without the need to shout my lungs out.”

For those skeptical of this modern parenting approach, the affordability of wireless doorbells may sway opinions, with prices starting at just £6.79 each. Alternatively, the specific model Shelley used can be purchased on Amazon for £14.99, offering additional features like adjustable chime volume and an LED indicator.

Unlike similar devices, these doorbells can be conveniently placed anywhere using adhesive backs without interfering with your internet connectivity.

While Shelley has found a simple way to manage her children, not all moms were impressed by the hack.

In response to the viral video, which has amassed over a million views in less than 24 hours, one mother shared her experience of attempting a similar tactic, only to have her kids outsmart her by removing the batteries from the receiver.

Another commenter reminisced, “My dad tried this 25 years ago… It worked until we realized we could remove the batteries from the ringer unit for our Walkman.”

Another parent mentioned that their efforts were thwarted by noise-canceling headphones and other gadgets in the house, requiring visual cues like flashing lights for attention.

Despite some setbacks, many parents were eager to try out the wireless doorbells, with some opting for Amazon’s Alexa speaker for a similar purpose.

One father exclaimed, “Wow, best idea ever… Heading to the store right away!”

Hopefully, this innovative solution will offer Shelley some well-deserved peace and quiet at home, if only for a brief respite.
