Jenna Dewan has opened up about her co-parenting dynamic with her ex-husband, Channing Tatum, acknowledging that ‘it’s always a journey.’

The 43-year-old actress, who recently shared news of her third pregnancy, discussed raising her children with the 43-year-old Magic Mike star in an interview with Romper.

She is a mother to daughter Everly, 10, with Tatum, and son Callum, three, with her fiancé Steve Kazee.

Reflecting on her co-parenting experience, Dewan expressed, ‘It’s always a journey. It never ends. You just learn as you go and get better at certain things, and for me, Evie will always be my top priority.’

She emphasized, ‘I just continually put her first. That’s how I can manage all hard things.’

Following the arrival of her second child, Dewan shared that being separated from her daughter was initially challenging.

‘In the beginning, it was really tough. And it was definitely hard on her in the beginning too, but she’s gotten into the flow with that a lot more,’ Dewan revealed, adding, ‘But she loves Callum. She really adores him.’

Dewan and Tatum first met on the set of the 2006 film, Step Up, and got engaged two years later. They exchanged vows in July 2009 in Malibu but announced their separation in April 2018, finalizing their divorce in November 2019.

In a joint statement during their split, Dewan and Tatum expressed, ‘We have something we would like to share.’

‘First off, it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives we’ve chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for…’

The statement continued, ‘We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together.’

‘Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.’

Concluding their message, they affirmed, ‘We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy.’

Dewan has since found happiness with Tony Award winner Steve Kazee, with whom she got engaged in February 2020, while Tatum has been in a relationship with actress Zoe Kravitz since 2021, leading to their engagement in 2023.

In an Instagram post, Dewan joyfully shared her pregnancy news with her 9.1 million followers, showcasing her baby bump as Kazee serenaded her with a guitar in the background.

The actress playfully captioned the post, ‘Think if I make @stevekazee serenade me every night the baby will get his voice??’

Fans and friends flooded the comments section with congratulations and well-wishes for the growing family.

In another interview with Romper, Dewan disclosed that she and Kazee opted not to learn the gender of their second child, revealing that this pregnancy would be her last.

She expressed, ‘You don’t race to the end because this is the last time. So there’s a bit of joy and a little sadness. I’m really trying to enjoy it all and not try to just get through the days.’

Speaking about Kazee’s parenting qualities, Dewan gushed, ‘He’s so naturally domestic and nurturing, and he’s so loving, and he’s funny, and he’s really… he’s just incredible.’

She added, ‘It’s one of those things where people just have a natural ability for parenting. I’m so excited to see him with a little baby again.’

Dewan, glowing in her pregnancy, shared her experience of working while expecting, mentioning that it helps balance her mind and that her current role on The Rookie has been a dream job due to the supportive environment.

She showcased her baby bump in various stylish outfits during the Romper feature, exuding elegance and grace in each look.
